Description of the IMETEC silage harvester functions

The IMETEC self-propelled silage unloader is the main specialized equipment for silage removal on large, medium, and small cattle and sheep farms. It is designed to eliminate the drawbacks of manual labor and loader operation: large feed losses, loose silage cuts with mold risk, high labor costs, and low productivity. The machine combines cutting, conveying, automatic unloading, and agile movement functions. It is suitable for any silage trench, works in conjunction with TMR mixers, provides full mechanization of feeding, and significantly improves the economic efficiency of livestock farming.

The main cutting and excavation unit is equipped with high-speed, wear-resistant alloy roller knives with enhanced hardness and durability. During operation, the equipment tightly cuts the feed along the walls of the silage trench, forming dense cuts that prevent air from entering the silage mass. Silage losses are reduced to 3%, completely eliminating secondary fermentation and feed spoilage that occur during deep excavation with loaders. The nutrients in the silage are preserved, reducing feed losses. The cut feed is evenly transported by the built-in hot-dip galvanized scraper conveyor system. The absence of rubber parts eliminates feed contamination, and the conveyor operates without clogging even when handling wet, clumpy corn silage, alfalfa hay, and distillers' grains.

The machine is equipped with an integrated full-hydraulic control system, allowing a single lever to adjust movement, turning, cutting, lifting, and unloading. A simple control handle enables new operators to quickly master the operation. Standard models are suitable for ordinary silage trenches, cross-travel modifications are designed for long multi-chamber trenches, and customized high models handle silage piles up to 9 meters high for large farms with thousands of tons of silage storage. Two drive options are available: self-propelled diesel units for open trenches without power supply, offering full freedom of movement, and electric models for enclosed indoor trenches with low noise and lower operating costs. Both versions are equipped with a hydraulic automatic braking system to prevent slipping on slopes and trench edges, enhancing operational safety.

The discharge height is compatible with most common TMR mixers on the market, allowing feed to be delivered directly into the loading opening without additional rehandling. A single operator performs all silo unloading operations, with a throughput exceeding 30 tons per hour, replacing the labor of 4–6 workers and significantly reducing ongoing staffing costs. The body is made of thickened manganese steel plates, resistant to impact and corrosion. The equipment operates stably in wet trenches and on frozen ground in winter, functioning at temperatures as low as -30 degrees below zero. The conveyor chain has a service life of 5–8 years, and maintenance is simple.
In addition, the cutting width and lifting height can be customized to match the dimensions of silage trenches and the farm's feeding volume. The compact body moves freely through narrow passages between trenches. Fully mechanized extraction eliminates silage contamination from workers trampling it, keeps the feed clean, and reduces the risk of digestive system diseases in livestock. The equipment combines excellent feed quality, high productivity, labor savings, and operational safety, making it an indispensable core machine for standardized feeding at modern large-scale livestock farms.
